Discovering the Universe: James Webb Telescope and Beyond

Scott Willoughby ’89, senior vice president of performance excellence at Northrop Grumman's space systems sector, will reflect on the journey to develop, launch, and deploy the James Webb Telescope. He will also share some of the groundbreaking results seen since it has been in orbit.

Willoughby will be joined by Terry Hart ’68, a former NASA astronaut and professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering at Lehigh University, and Joshua Pepper, an astronomer and associate professor. Pepper is on a three-year leave from Lehigh to work as a program scientist in the Astrophysics Division at the NASA Science Mission Directorate. He will give a presentation entitled “NASA's Next Great Observatories” and discuss the plans for the next flagship NASA telescopes after Webb.

This event is held during Reunion Weekend. Anyone in our Lehigh community is welcome to attend this event, and other events throughout the weekend.
