Event Agenda
9:00 a.m. — Registration and hot breakfast buffet

9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. — The Right To Lie with AI and the Future of Our Discourse
Media studies approaches ask us to think about the social effects of new communication technologies as they are deployed in our society. As artificial intelligence continues to make its way into our work and our communication structures, often without our knowledge or consent, society will be challenged to ask critical questions about how these technologies work, who benefits from them, and what the costs are. We will look at how these technologies work and a case study in political communication censorship as a way to examine how our values often are challenged by changes in the way we navigate information.
Presenter: Jeremy Littau Ph. D., Associate Professor, Journalism and Communications

10:45 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. — Break

11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. — What Buyers and Sellers Need To Know About Production Enjoyment
Daniel Zane will discuss his recent research exploring how production enjoyment — how much a seller enjoys making a product or providing a service — influences buyers' willingness to pay and sellers' willingness to charge in peer-to-peer marketplaces.
Presenter: Danny Zane Ph. D., Associate Professor, Marketing

12:15 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. — Hot lunch buffet

1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. — Can DNA Be the Next Revolution in Computing and Data Storage?
The “Purple Drop" project creates a lab-on-a-chip system using open-source software and hardware to manipulate DNA-containing water droplets. These systems are capable of processing information similar to traditional computers but with higher durability, potentially preserving information for thousands of years in substantially smaller spaces than silicon-based devices.
Presenter: Mayuresh V. Kothare Ph. D., R. L. McCann Professor, Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering and Associate Dean for Research

2:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. — Break

2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. — New Leadership in the College of Business
